From Matt Kleiner, PGA Professional
Dear fellow golf professionals:
I wanted to share with you some information and statistics that can impact your golf course operation:
My course Villa Roma Country Club accepts the Hudson Valley Golf Pass – the discount we offer is $30 off our regular price. Last year, in 2007, we received approximately 200 additional rounds by accepting this pass. But that’s nothing to what we experienced in just three weeks this April.
Taking advantage of Hudson Valley Golf’s innovative online special program, I posted a coupon which offered Hudson Valley Golf members a free greens fee through the month of April. All they had to pay for was the cart – a $22 fee. The offer was posted on the Hudson Valley Golf website and a couple of e-mails were sent to every Hudson Valley Golf member alerting them of them of the special. They were marketing my course to more than 1,000 golfers in the region for FREE!
My course has experienced more play in April than ever before. In a 21-day span, we had more than 100 Hudson Valley Golf members play the Villa Roma. In addition, about half of these members brought a playing companion who paid our regular rate. We doubled our normal amount of rounds in April, increased our revenue and most importantly, received play from golfers who have never been to the Villa Roma before. As you know, introducing your course to new players is probably our most important marketing objective.
In addition, many of these players ate lunch in our grill room and several of them purchased merchandise in my shop. I had one lady come in and spend more than $400 on shoes and apparel. All totaled, I sold more than $1,500 in my pro shop from Hudson Valley Golf members. For April, that’s a big bonus.
If you’re not utilizing the online specials that Hudson Valley Golf is offering, you’re truly missing out – not only on additional rounds for your course, but revenue for your pro shop. And posting these specials is as simple as going on the Hudson Valley Golf website at www.hudsonvalleygolf.com, following the Course Manager prompt at the bottom of the home page and typing in your offer. That’s all. And you can update and revise the specials as you wish. If your not internet savvy, you can also call Hudson Valley Golf at 845-339-4200 and they can post the special for you.
In these slower economic times, when attracting golfers to your course is tougher than ever, Hudson Valley Golf has a business model that actually connects golfers with golf courses. I’ve accepted many different discount cards and programs over the years and nothing has produced results like Hudson Valley Golf.
Regards,
Matt Kleiner
