Rondout Country Club

Rondout Golf Club is an eighteen hole public golf course nestled in the Rondout Valley just outside the upstate village of Accord, NY. Nearly equidistant from New York City and Albany, we're a leisurely 90-minute drive from both cities.

Designed by Hal Purdy and built in 1969, Rondout Golf Club is a challenging 18-hole layout featuring tough greens and plenty of water hazzards. Fairway grass is fescue and various rye mix with over-seeded poa annua/bent grass greens. Several elevation changes add to both the charm and difficulty, yet do not seriously impede the golfer who prefers to walk. Perhaps the panelists from Golf Digest who bestowed a 3-star ranking (which means “very good, tell a friend it’s worth getting off the highway for”) described Rondout best:
“Some neat holes…Watch this one.”

Since the addition of the second nine in 1989, Rondout has steadily evolved into a favorite course among players in the Tri-County area. It’s well-kept, playable and enjoyable. The view from atop the clubhouse sweeps across the mountainside. What stands out about Rondout is that no one hole stands out – rather it’s a stretch of solid holes mixing in tree-lined fairways, water hazards, small greens and elevation changes. Whether you’re head professional and former PGA Tour player John DeForest or a weekend mid-handicapper, Rondout delivers a good heaping of hearty golf.

Of Note: The unique trees to the right of the 14th green look like they have feet…When playing Rondout, make sure to check out the Wall of Momentos from DeForest’s playing career. He has played in several U.S. Opens and PGA Championships and is still considered one of the top-playing club professionals in the country…

The top three reasons to play Rondout Country Club:
1. The views
2. Variety of holes
3. The restaurant
