Just outside of Liberty in Swan Lake is the old Stevensville Resort Golf Course, now known as Swan Lake Country Club. This tight, William Mitchell-designed, heavily-wooded course is sometimes unnoticed in the shadow of Sullivan County’s Big Three -- Grossinger’s, Concord Monster and Kutsher’s. But it is not unworthy. Like his work at Kutsher’s and Tarry Brae, Mitchell carved holes out of hillside terrain, framed by rows of hardwood trees. And true to his style, Swan Lake does not favor one ball flight over another – half the holes work right to left and half move left to right. This is a solid layout with scenic mountain views and no waiting.
